Appsfactory´s tagesschau app awarded as Silver Winner at the Lovie Awards 2018
It’s official this week: Appsfactory will receive the silver award for the tagesschau app in the category “Apps, Mobile Sites & Podcasts / News & Entertainment“ at the 8th Lovie Awards at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London on November 15, 2018. The Lovies are the leading and most prestigious European award for excellence on the Internet. The innovative daily app is one of the most downloaded German news apps and, in close cooperation with the project team of ARD-Aktuell, was designed, programmed and graphically implemented by Appsfactory strategically.
Selected from more than 1,500 submissions of 33 countries
This year, Appsfactory is one of the happy winners of the 1,500 submissions from more than 33 countries, selected by the International Academy of Digital Art and Science (IADAS). The main focus of the award lies on the appreciation of Europe’s diverse and unique Internet community. The best internet and creative networks, content producers, cultural and political organizations as well as “bedroom bloggers” are awarded annually. The Lovie Award is reflecting the rapid development of the internet in business and leisure by continuously amplifying both the jury and the individual competition categories.
Tagesschau app including vertical videos, chatbot search and machine learning
The conceptual innovations of the multi-award-winning tagesschau app are, on the one hand, full-screen videos of all the top news on the homepage in portrait format, that meet the most important usage requirements on smartphones. For formatting the videos, which are produced in 16: 9, Appsfactory had developed PICTACROP, a highly automated video cutting tool in addition to the CMS Sophora, developed by the Hamburg-based company subshell, which is used by the editors of ARD-Aktuell during the production workflow. The Tagesschau app, on the other hand, offers personalized message sorting, based on machine learning, and a search with chatbot interface. The results are apparent: with 4.6 stars in the iTunes App Store, the tagesschau app is the top rated news app and has doubled its page impressions per visit after the relaunch.
The whole Appsfactory team is very happy about the Lovie Award, which is awarding the intensive and ongoing work on the tagesschau app on international level!
