Appsfactory named second largest full-service digital agency in kress pro ranking

The full-service digital agency Appsfactory has taken second place in the prestigious kress pro ranking of the best digital service providers for media companies. 180 agencies from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, other European countries and the USA were put through their paces. About half – twelve full-service and 75 specialist service providers including tools – were considered for the ranking based on their market presence.

With ten major media companies in its portfolio, 1,122 million visits per year (according to the Information Community for the Assessment of the Circulation of Media (IVW)) and over 600 projects, Appsfactory succeeded in claiming the runner-up position by a large margin over the third-placed company (six clients and 827 visits per year). The company has witnessed an enormous increase in the number of visits measured in the ranking: in the previous year, the figure was 683.8 million.

Important customers and relevant projects equal growth

“Appsfactory has grown strongly in recent years: our team of experts has swelled from 92 employees in 2016 to an additional 148 today. As far as turnover is concerned, we boosted the figures from six million EUR to 18 million EUR in 2020. Important media companies including FAZ, SWMH, NDR, ARD, Axel Springer and the RTL Media Group have placed their trust in us. We are proud not only to have developed very successful applications, but also to have sustainably transformed* the face of digital media offerings,” explains Dr Alexander Trommen, Appsfactory’s CEO. “Our achievement of second place in the kress pro ranking is an important confirmation of our reputation, and clearly shows that our media customers very much appreciate the quality and the high degree of innovation of the products created as well as the loyal cooperation,” adds Jan Nowak, Head of BU Media & AI.

Further information on the ranking

The kress pro ranking, which can be read in full in issue 7/2021, analyses the needs of media companies in any given year, and offers a good overview of which services are offered by which full-service and special service providers. For this purpose, 125 of the highest-coverage online offerings in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (based on visits according to IVW / ÖWA-Basic / Mediapulse in June 2021) were asked which service providers and tools they use. Only providers with an editorial focus were considered. In a next step, the agencies and software companies were asked about clients from the sample. Only current business relationships confirmed by at least one of the two sides were counted.
