Appsfactory and ARD-aktuell present the news of the future at IFA: augmented reality show brings Tagesschau (Review of the Day) 2025 into the living room
The most important technology exhibition in the world – the IFA (International Funkausstellung) – took place this year in Berlin from 6-11 September. IFA 2019, which counted over 245,000 visitors, focused on:
- The networking of electrical appliances using voice control and artificial intelligence
- Using a smartphone as a control centre to control all the technology in your own home and in your car
The ARD also took the bold step of providing a glimpse into the future, or rather into the news of the future, when they showed in hall 2.2 what an ARD news review might look like in 2025.
Visitors to ARD-aktuell’s IFA stand this year could take a journey into the future for the first time and try out today what Tagesschau, Germany’s leading news brand, would feel like in 2025 with the incorporation of technologies of the future such as holograms and augmented reality. ARD-aktuell’s innovation department brought the presenter of Tagesschau 2025 right into the viewer’s living room. A life-size version of the 8:00 pm news presenter Linda Zervakis could stand in the middle of the room in 2025 and present the news content through 3D objects so that events such as the reconstruction of Notre-Dame could be experienced directly.
The application produced by Appsfactory delighted over 2,700 visitors to IFA – anyone who missed the opportunity can still experience Tagesschau 2025 live in the next few months at various trade fairs, where ARD is represented. Dr Alexander Trommen, CEO at Appsfactory commented: “It’s great, with ARD-aktuell, to have a customer that is so open and bold working with us on implementing such innovative projects – this brings the channel even closer to its viewers so that they experience a whole new style of news communication!”
