Annual Multimedia Silver Award 2019 for Appsfactory’s “My Lidl World” game app
The free children’s and strategy game app “My Lidl World” combines fun and adventure, and was awarded silver in the App category at the Annual Multimedia Award 2019. The application was the number one children’s app in the iTunes App Store for weeks in several countries, including Italy, Portugal and Lithuania, and is one of the most successful customer activation campaigns ever launched via app in retail. Every year, the Annual Multimedia Award honours groundbreaking digital projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland that stand out from the crowd.
At the start of the project, the objective of the Lidl Foundation was to use gamification to transport and strengthen the brand values of “customer proximity” and “dynamism” internationally and to establish a link between the online and offline worlds. Since its first release at the beginning of 2017, the app has already recorded around 2.7 million users and over 17 million sessions worldwide with an average duration of 15.5 minutes. The game app, which reaches customers of all ages internationally, also created a link between virtuality and reality through its barcode scanner. The supermarket expansion game “My Lidl World” allows children and adults to plan their own supermarket, enlarge it and design the range of goods according to their own ideas. The game offers users exciting tasks, child-friendly graphics, a variety of mini-games and regular updates with enhancements and new challenges.
The Annual Multimedia Award was founded in 1996 and represents the vitality of digital brand communication. The award documents the newest developments industry, highlights the latest trends and showcases the year’s digital advertising. In addition to nine other apps, 27 websites, ten web TV/videos and eight social media projects were honoured by a jury of experts including the online and marketing expert Michael-A. Konitzer.
