The presentation of Saxony’s State Prize for Design took place on the evening of October 24, 2014 at the Leipzig Trade Fair as part of this year’s Designers Open. The children’s app “Abflug! Die lustige Wimmelreise für kleine Passagiere“, created for Lufthansa by APPSfactory in close collaboration with KB&B, together with the iF-design app, both received accolades in the special prize category “Apps – New Mobile Media“.
The State of Saxony awards the State Prize for Design as part of its program of support for small and middle-sized businesses, with the prize going to mid-tier companies, designers and agencies located in Saxony. The purpose of the competition is to offer public acknowledgement of products and services demonstrating outstanding design as well persuasive communications designs. The special category “Apps – New Mobile Media“ focuses specifically at increased digitalization and is directed at outstanding app creations that demonstrate excellence in terms of both functionality and user guidance and which are currently available for downloading at an app store. Members of the contest jury were appointed by Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport and included representatives from the Bauhaus University in Weimar, journalists working in the field of design and product managers with major companies.
Innovative user guidance and an app’s functional value constituted the criteria for the award in the special category “Apps – New Mobile Media“. In addition, apps were also evaluated in terms of the quality of design creativity as well as user friendliness of interface design and other app components.
The team at APPSfactory is very pleased with the recognition the award offers and wishes to thank both employees and customers for working together to make the company a success!
